Patricia Ann (Young) Elmore

Patricia Ann Elmore, 86, of Boca Raton, FL passed away surrounded by her loved ones on Tuesday, December 5, 2017.  She is survived and missed dearly by her devoted son James Elmore, his wife Francesca, and her cherished granddaughter Riley, whom she lovingly referred to as “her heart”.  Patricia was a beloved sister and aunt also survived by her brother Maurice Young and sisters Mary Green, Winnifred Lang, and Genevieve DeCordova, and many nieces and nephews that were dear to her.  She was preceded in death by her sister Ruth Reid, and her brothers Lynus Young, Raymond Young and Vincent Young.  

Patricia was born on September 12, 1931 in St. Ann Parish, Jamaica to Edgar and Winnifred Young.  She was the youngest of nine children.  After graduating high school, she left Jamaica and briefly lived in Canada before immigrating to the United States.  She became a US citizen, which was one of the proudest days of her life, and enjoyed many years living in New York City.  Eventually, Patricia moved to Boca Raton, Florida where she raised her son James and worked as a real estate agent.  Patricia was a faithful member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church. 

Patricia had a special place in her heart for all animals and dearly loved her cat, Angel.  She also enjoyed traveling, taking walks on the beach, a healthy political debate, reading, and spending time with her family.  Her independent spirit, zest for life, fierce determination, compassion for animals, and love for her family were visible to all who knew her, and she will be lovingly remembered and profoundly missed. 

A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Deerfield Beach at 9:30am on Friday, December 15.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA).
