Nancy Carol Reiss

Nancy Carol Reiss, of Boca Raton, FL, passed away on May 21st at the age of 62. Nancy was born in Long Island, New York, on December 15, 1954. She was one of four children of Vivian and Everett Reiss.

Nancy was very independent and full of life. Her life was not defined by her limitations, but more by her love of life and her ability to constantly grow and change. She loved to color, write in her notebooks, do poster artwork and make hook rugs. Nancy spent her younger years at the Habilitation Center in Boca  Raton, Florida. Nancy participated in the Special Olympics as a swimmer and won several awards. Nancy was always happy to learn new things and she had a great time when she took karate lessons with her nieces Kerri and Susan. Nancy enjoyed watching TV – some of her favorites were The Golden Girls, Starsky and Hutch and Star Trek. Nancy loved music, especially country music, and she loved to dance. She always looked forward to any party or celebration where she knew there would be music and dancing. Nancy also loved cats and always had a pet cat or two.

Nancy worked at Wendy's where she became the favorite of many of her “regular” customers. She was such a bright light to the people who knew her, always ready to give you a hug, or tell you she loves you, or give you advice if she thought you needed help with something.


Nancy leaves behind her sister and brother-in-law, Judith and Joseph Dimke, her brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Cathe Reiss, and her nieces and nephews, Susan and Richard Retamar, Kerri and Joerg Herkenrath, Patrick and Carolyn Reiss, Ben and Kelly Reiss, Michelle Drab, William Reiss, Christopher Reiss, Jonathon Reiss, Christopher Reiss and Kevin Reiss, and several great nieces and nephews. Nancy will be reunited in heaven with her beloved mother, father, and brother, Dennis.

A Memorial Service will be held at the Boca Raton Cemetery. Nancy will be laid to rest next to her mom and dad. The ceremony will be on Thursday, May 25, 2017, at 1:30 a.m.

As expressions of sympathy, donations to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital are greatly appreciated in lieu of flowers.
