Welcome to the memorial page for

Mark Steven Ellinger

July 2, 1953 ~ November 26, 2017 (age 64)

 MARK  STEVEN ELLINGER, Psy.D.

MARK STEVEN ELLINGER PASSED AWAY ON NOVEMBER 26, 2017 SURROUNDED BY HIS DEVOTED FAMILY.  MARK WAS BORN JULY 2, 1953 IN SALINA, KANSAS TO BARBARA BENDER AND EMANUAL ELLINGER.

MARK WAS A 1971 GRADUATE OF KINETRA AMERICAN HIGH SCHOOL IN MOROCCO, NORTH AFRICA.  HE RECEIVED HIS BACHELOR OF SCIENCE DEGREE IN PSYCHOLOGY AND SOCIOLOGY IN 1975 AND HIS MASTERS DEGREE IN COUNSELING AND GUIDANCE IN 1977 FROM INDIANA UNIVERSITY, BLOOMINGTON, INDIANA.  AFTER MOVING TO MIAMI, FLORIDA, HE EARNED A DOCTORATE IN CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGY IN 1986 AT NOVA UNIVERSITY IN FORT LAUDERDALE, FLORIDA.

FOR FIVE YEARS, MARK WAS CHIEF PSYCHOLOGIST AT A PSYCHIATRIC HOSPITAL WORKING WITH CHILDREN, ADOLESCENTS AND ADULTS IN DELRAY BEACH, FLORIDA.  IN 1990, MARK WENT INTO PRIVATE PRACTICE WITH HIS WIFE, REBECCA SACHS ELLINGER, CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGIST.  IN ADDITION TO CHILD, ADOLESCENT AND ADULT PSYCHOTHERAPY, MARK WAS INVOLVED IN CRITICAL INCIDENT STRESS DEBRIEFINGS, INDUSTRIAL ORGANIZATIONAL CONSULTATIONS TO BANKS, BUSINESSES AND HOSPITALS, AND ALSO SPECIALIZED IN FORENSIC PSYCHOLOGY.  MARK WAS A SOUGHT AFTER LECTURER ON A WIDE RANGE OF TOPICS RELATED TO MENTAL HEALTH IN SOUTH FLORIDA.

ALTHOUGH MARK ENJOYED ALL ASPECTS OF HIS PRACTICE, HIS MEN’S GROUP OF 30 YEARS WAS HIS PRIDE AND JOY.  AS EVIDENCED BY LETTERS SENT TO HIM BY MEMBERS OF THIS GROUP, HE HAD A PROFOUND INPACT ON THEIR LIVES.  “DR. MARK” WAS KNOWN FOR HIS INSIGHT, HUMOR AND HIS SWIFT KICKS IN THE BUTT! AS ONE PERSON SAID, “YES, YOUR PROFESSIONAL CREDENTIALS SPEAK FOR THEMSELVES, BUT SOMEHOW YOU WERE ABLE TO COUCH YOUR WISE COUNSEL AND SUPPORT AS A FRIEND, A CONFIDANT AND AS SOMEONE WHO CLEARLY, VERY CLEARLY, HAD MY BEST INTEREST AT HEART.”

MARK IS SURVIVED BY REBECCA ELLINGER, HIS LIFE PARTNER AND BEST FRIEND, HIS DAUGHTERS, KATIE ELLINGER AND CHELSEA ELLINGER, HIS SISTER, LINDA CAMPBELL (DAVID) FROM BLOOMINGTON, INDIANA, AND NIECES, DANA CHERKALA (MICHAEL) FROM BLOOMINGTON, INDIANA AND DENISE DYMOND (NATHAN) FROM RICHLAND, MICHIGAN.

MARK-

YOUR FAMILY WILL FOREVER MISS AND LONG FOR YOUR EVER-PRESENT SUPPORTING LOVE, YOUR KIND AND GENTLE SPIRIT, YOUR ENERGETIC PRESENCE, YOUR WICKED AND QUICK WITTED SENSE OF HUMOR THAT WAS RELENTLESSLY IMPOSED ON US!  AND, MOST OF ALL, YOUR UNFAILING DEVOTION TO ALL OF US. YOU WERE, AND ALWAYS WILL BE, ONE OF A KIND. OUR OWN KIND!
