Mariano T. Alma

Marty Alma, 93, of Delray Beach, FL passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 26, 2017.  Marty was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY.  He moved to Florida 20 years ago to be closer to his family. 

Marty served in the Army during WWII, he received and honorable discharge, the became a life guard at Coney Island.  Marty was later promoted Chief of the life guards.  Marty then joined the NY City Transit Police and retired after 20 years.  He then began a second career joining the U.S. Marshall service, and later retired for the second time.  Marty always had a love for music going back to the days of the Big Band era.  He played trumpet and was his own big band leader.  In Florida he formed a 5 man band and played in assisted living facilities until 2 months before his passing.  Marty will be missed by his family, friends, and the many musicians he played with during his lifetime.

Marty is survived by his nephews Thomas, Robert, Joseph, and Ronald Alma and his niece Barbara Matejka.
