John H. Metzger

John H. Metzger, son of the late Joseph and Mary (Casper) Metzger, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on December 19, 2012 in Boca Raton Regional Medical Center.

He was born in Louisville, Ohio in 1937.   John is survived by his loving wife Irene of 45 years, and son William Metzger and grandson Jacob Metzger.  His beloved and cherished daughter, Theresa preceded him in death.

John is survived by three brothers; Thomas Metzger, James Metzger and Dr. Charles Metzger. His brother Joseph Metzger preceded him in death.  He is also survived by four sisters; Catherine Park, Mary Ierardi, Martha Heimbach and Monica Atkins and 39 nieces and nephews and brother in law Jerry Meersman.

He graduated from Archbishop Curley High School and the University of Miami. John was associated with his brother Thomas Metzger in the window and door industry.  John always remained happy, positive and loving to everyone he knew and met, despite the fact that he was handicapped since the age of seven from polio. Above all else he loved his faith and family.

John was a devout Catholic and a parishioner of Saint Jude Catholic Church in Boca Raton, Florida.

Family and friends will gather to remember John on Friday, December 21, 2012 at Glick Family Funeral Home at 6:00 PM.  The Funeral Mass of the Resurrection will celebrated at Saint Jude Catholic Church in Boca Raton, Florida on December 22, 2012 at 1:00 PM.
