James J. Varrati

James J. Varrati passed away peacefully at his home in Coconut Creek, Florida on Sunday, September 20, 2015.  He was 71 years old.  James was born to John and Antoinette Perella Varrati on December 15, 1943 in Pittsburgh, PA.

In 1985 the family decided to move to Florida where James became a Deputy.  After 20 years in law enforcement, he retired in 2008, when he looked forward to spending his time with his grandchildren and family.  James had a wonderful creative side as well; the family will always treasure his many beautiful drawings.  An avid football fan, from Florida he continued to cheer on his beloved Pittsburgh Steelers.   Most important to him was the love of family.  He cherished his wife of 50 years, Grace DeFrancesco Varrati and their beautiful daughters and grandchildren. 

James will be deeply missed, not only by his family but friends and even strangers whom lives he impacted.     He was a devoted husband to Grace; a loving and supportive father to Kimberly (Michael) Gonzales and Monique (Jeff) Eisenmann and proud grandfather to Haley Gonzales, Christian and Ryan Eisenmann.  He also leaves behind his two brothers John and Joe Varrati in Pittsburgh.

The family will be receiving friends from 4:00-8:00pm on Friday, September 25th at Glick Family Funeral Home, Boca Raton, where a prayer service will begin at 7:00pm.   In lieu of flowers, memorial remembrances may be made to the American Cancer Society or a charity of one’s choice.

Additional visiting hours and services will be held on Monday and Tuesday at the John Elachko Funeral Home in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
