Holly O'Rourke

Helen Holly O’Rourke of Boca Raton left this world suddenly on Thursday, May 26, 2016.  She is now at peace in the presence of the Lord.  All pain and grief are over; there is only perfect joy and beauty to behold.

Holly was born to George and Helen Herring and raised in Wantagh, L.I., New York.  She graduated from MacArthur High School in Levittown and then received her Associates Degree from Nassau Community College. She moved to Beverly Hills, Florida in 1993 and eventually settled in Boca Raton in 2006.

Holly had a unique ability to calm and charm young children.  She volunteered at the YMCA and also tutored many of the children living at The Pines Camp.  In her spare time, she loved to garden.  Flowers and plants all seemed to bloom brighter with her loving touch. She will be missed by her canine buddy, Spanky, who was always there with a wagging tail. 

Left to cherish her memory are her father George Herring and step-mother Julianna; her four brothers: Robert and his wife Terry Herring, George and his wife Pat Herring, James and his wife Margaret Herring, Thomas and his wife Mary Ellen Herring; and her sister Kathy and her husband Fred Smyth as well as eight loving nieces and nephews. Also grieving are her step-siblings Julianna, Irene and William.

Visiting hours will be held on Friday, June 3^rd at the funeral home from 2:00-4:00pm and 7:00-9:00pm with evening eulogies by the family.  A prayer service will begin at 10:30am on Saturday at the funeral home followed by burial at the Boca Raton Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested donations to the Lupus Society (lupusflorida.org) or Food for the Poor (foodforthepoor.org) in memory of Helen Holly O’Rourke.
