Gene E. Doyle, of Boynton Beach, Florida. Born June 12, 1925 in Phoenix, Arizona, died April 18, 2017 in Atlantis, Florida. He was a proud World War II Navy Veteran, who served on The Prince William, CVE 31, in both the Atlantic and Pacific Theatres.
After his Naval Service, he attended Pepperdine University Theological School and he had extensive knowledge of all religions.
His friendly outgoing personality, (Gene never met a stranger) along with his musical talent including playing the keyboard, harmonica and guitar, resulted in a very successful entertainment career, in which Gene appeared in clubs in Washington, DC, Pennsylvania and various locations on the East Coast. Gene entertained for many years in Florida, including Ft. Lauderdale, Pompano Beach and Boca Raton. He had a phenomenal memory for jokes and songs and was still entertaining family members until his passing.
Gene was predeceased by his daughter, Linda; and is survived by his beloved wife, Jamie (Holland) Doyle; his brother-in-law, James N. Holland (Carol); stepson, Joseph van Zwaren; step-grandchildren, Neta Lerman; Lazar van Zwaren; Shmuel van Zwaren; Racheli Marks; and Nili Richter; granddaughter, Jennifer Avera; and great-grandchildren, Garrett Avera; Dayanna Avera; Christian Avera; and Jayden Avera.
Viewing will be held at the Glick Family Funeral Home, 3600 Federal Highway, Boca Raton, Florida on Monday, April 24, 2017 between the hours of 10:30 AM-12:00 Noon. A funeral service will begin at noon at the funeral home, with entombment to follow at the Boca Raton Mausoleum, 451 Southwest Fourth Avenue, Boca Raton, Florida.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Gene Doyle’s name to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
