I am so very sorry to hear of Fred's passing.  I knew him many years ago, still have
many loving pictures of him.  He was the one I let get away…Rest peacefully Frederick,
you will always be in my heart.

Fred was always there for help and ideas no matter what the matter was.
I knew him both from Courant/Warren Weaver and then at the Meyer Complex.
I am retired NYU as well.
My deepest sympathy to all of his family.
He is at peace; he ran the good race.
Sincerely,
Dianne Piwinski

Pat,
I'm so sorry for your loss. Fred was such a wonderful person and much beloved at Courant for as long as I can remember. My late husband Jack worked with Fred for many years and had deep love and respect for him. Fred worked so hard at NYU for all the years I knew him there. He never said no or said something was impossible. He loved the challenge and always came through for everyone. I'm glad you had so many good years together.

Fred Hansen was, and will always be my longest lifetime friend. I loved him like a brother. We played as kids in the neighborhood and then went fishing together when we got old enough to take a boat out without grownups around.
He introduced me to the lab at NYU, and they hired me and gave me an education. Fred changed my life that day and I will always be greatful.
When he came home from Viet Nam, we bought a boat together and it was like he never left. Fred was one of the smartest people I new and I would love to see and hear about the new toys he was playing with at the lab. I wish I had spent more time and reached out more often in these past few years. So sorry for our loos Pat. See you soon

Fred was good company, a fine raconteur, a very good friend and neighbor.  He will be sorely missed.  He and Pat were a fine pair and she will remain a link to him and a constant reminder of his spirit of adventure.  Her courage and strength of character will serve her at this time of loss, and the friendships she has nurtured are there in solid support.

I remember Fred fondly as a strong individual, loved his cars, his work, with a firm handshake.  May he rest in peace, and the Lord bless you Pat, give you strength to move forward, always remembering the 'Fredmeister'.

I knew Fred all of my life and it was still too short a time. He left this world too soon and my heart breaks over his loss. Pat was devoted to his care and it did my soul good to spend Fred's last days with her and to hold his hand. He leaves a huge void with family and friends and I will never let him out of my thoughts and prayers. His loving sister, Gail
