Early morning on May 17, my mother Elisabeta Nalbantu ( née Mircea on May 3rd, 1926 in Silistraru, Braila) also known as Ivette, Iva, Buni, and Tante Veta, passed away to sunnier gardens.
Elisabeta loved gardening, cooking, dancing, music and reading, and had struggled with limited mobility over the last 9 years. She has been a devoted mother to her two children, Alexandru Doru of Washington state ( deceased), and Virginia Angela (Coca) of Florida and Connecticut, and a much loved grandmother to Armand, Sebastian, Conrad, Roxanna, Tristan, Monica, Zoe and Sophie. Elisabeta was a good wife to Florian Costel Nalbantu who had left her a widow 30 years ago. Elisabeta was one of seven surviving children of Petrea Mircea and Codina Motoc of Braila, Romania. Out of the seven ( Adelina, Nicolae, Octavia, Costache, Pascu and Raditza), Elisabeta is survived only by her younger sister Raditza of Cluj, Transylvania. Elisabeta enjoyed a large family of nieces and nephews and many friends who preceded her in the last journey as it always happens when one lives a long and fruitful life. Elisabeta was a journalist and editor and a very active woman; and, her memory will be in our hearts forever.
The service for her passing ( and viewing) will be Monday , May 22 at 9 am at St Mark Greek Orthodox Church of Boca Raton, Florida and the funeral at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens in Pompano Beach, Florida.
May the angels unburden her beautiful soul in transition.
