ELEANOR B. DISTEFANO,AGE 88, DIED PEACEFULLY ON MONDAY NOVEMBER 6TH 2017 SURROUNDED BY HER VERY LOVING FAMILY. Visitation will be held at GLICK FAMILY FUNERAL HOME IN BOCA RATON, FL ON WEDNESDAY NOVEMBER 8TH FROM 6-8PM. FUNERAL SERVICE WILL BE HELD AT ST. JUDES CATHOLIC CHURCH,  BOCA RATON, FL ON THURSDAY NOVEMBER 9TH AT 10AM. BURIAL WILL FOLLOW AT BOCA RATON CEMETERY, BOCA RATON, FLORIDA.

ELEANOR WAS BORN IN EVERETT, MASSACHUSETTS ON JULY 25TH 1929 TO JOHN AND JOSEPHINE FERRANTE.  HER FAMILY THEN MOVED TO ROCHESTER, NY WHERE HER FIRST JOB AS A TEENAGER WAS IN A JEWELRY BOX FACTORY.  SHE WAS ALSO CONSIDERED A PIONEER AMONG THE WOMEN IN HER FAMILY BY BEING THE FIRST WOMAN BRAVE ENOUGH TO DRIVE.  SHE BEGAN A TREND WHERE ALL THE WOMEN IN HER FAMILY QUICKLY FOLLOWED HER LEAD.  HER PASSIONS IN LIFE WERE HER FAMILY, COOKING, MUSIC, AND DANCING.  HER FRIDAY AND SATURDAY NIGHTS WERE SPENT DANCING THE NIGHT AWAY AT MANY SOUTH FLORIDA BALLROOMS.  SHE CAME FROM A LARGE ITALIAN FAMILY, AND HER PARENTS IMMIGRATED FROM SICILY AS CHILDREN.  SHE HELD ON TIGHT TO HER SICILIAN ROOTS BY HOSTING MANY BIG TRADTIONAL ITALIAN DINNERS ON SUNDAYS FOR HER FAMILY AND CLOSE FRIENDS FOR WHICH SHE BECAME FAMOUS FOR. IN 1970, ELEANOR AND HER FAMILY MOVED TO SOUTH FLORIDA WHERE SHE RESIDED FOR 47 YEARS.  SHE WAS A DEDICATED CATHOLIC WOMAN, A MOTHER, A GRANDMOTHER, AND A GREAT-GRANDMOTHER. SHE RETIRED FROM A.D. HENDERSON UNIVERSITY SCHOOL WHERE SHE WORKED FOR 25 YEARS.  SHE MADE HER MOST LASTING FRIENDSHIPS THROUGH HER WORK  AND REGULAR CHURCH ATTENDANCE.  SHE WOULD OFFER RIDES TO CHURCH FOR HER ELDERLY NEIGHBORS IN NEED OF TRANSPORTATION.

SHE HAD FOUR CHILDREN AND IS PRECEDED IN DEATH BY HER OLDEST SON ARTHUR T. DISTEFANO. SHE IS SURVIVED BY HER DAUGHTERS JANICE FORREST, (HUSBAND KENNETH) ELAINE KOPS, (HUSBAND GENE) AND HER YOUNGEST SON DONALD J. DISTEFANO.  SHE HAS SIX GRANDCHILDREN NICOLE, KEVIN,LAURA, HANNA, RACHEL, AND DONNIE. SHE ALSO HAS SIX GREAT-GRANDCHILDREN MASON, JADEN, GISSELLE, JUNIOR, JOHN, AND DAVID.  ALONG WITH FOUR STEP GRANDCHILDREN CANDACE, GENNIFER, NICHOLE, AND MEAGAN AND ANOTHER SEVEN STEP GREAT GRANDCHILDREN KENNEDI, ASHLYN, PEYTON, MEAH, LAUREN, EVANEE, AND REMINGTON.

SHE LIVED A FULL LIFE ALWAYS SURROUNDED BY HER VERY LOVING FAMILY. SHE WILL BE DEARLY MISSED BUT IS NOW FREE AT LAST FROM ALL ILLNESS BY SHEADING HER EARTHLY BODY TO BE UNITED IN PARADISE WITH OUR HEAVENLY FATHER.
