Clifton C. Miller

January 4, 1935 ~ September 16, 2015 (age 80) 80 Years Old

Clifton “Cliff” Charles Miller, 80, of Delray Beach, FL, passed away on Wednesday, September 16, 2015 after a brief illness, surrounded by his companion and local family. 

Cliff was born on January 4, 1935 to Clifton and Myrtle (Herron) Miller in Pittston, PA. He spent his childhood in Duryea and West Pittston, PA, where he graduated from West Pittston High School. He also attended Penn State University.

Cliff had a successful career in construction and sales management while living in West Pittston and Dallas, PA. He became Vice President of Wilkes-Barre Clay Products, and managed several projects as a representative of MEMECO. After retirement, Cliff relocated and moved to Delray Beach, FL.

Cliff lived a very good life with a great sense of humor and sharp memory. In his early life, he enjoyed riding his “The Hog” Harley – Davidson and Honda Goldwing motorcycles,  playing  piano and organ as well as skiing and golfing with his friends. He really enjoyed family reunions and parties with his local family members and friends. He loved to travel with Clarice Clapps, his close companion, and spent much time during his retirement cruising to the Caribbean Islands, Alaska, Australia, New Zealand and China and visiting South Africa.

Clifton was an active member of the Irem Temple Shriners and the Irem Temple Motor Corps in West Pittston and performed on his motorcycle in holiday parades to benefit the Crippled Children of Shriners Hospital. He was also a member in good standing of the Masonic Lodge while living in West Pittston.

Clifton is survived by his two sons, Gary (Barbara) C. Miller of Wilkes-Barre, PA and Glenn A. Miller of Duryea, PA, and their mother, Shirley Garrett-Miller, brother, Ronald (Debbie) Miller of Shavertown, PA, step-grandchildren Tammy Jenkins and Adam Miller, great step-granddaughter Jennifer Jenkins, as well as multiple nephews, nieces and cousins throughout PA, CT, CO, NY and FL. He is predeceased by his spouse, Betsy L O’Brien-Miller, daughter Marilyn Ruth Miller, and sister Elva Miller.

A memorial service will be held at First Congregational Church, 500 Luzerne Ave, West Pittston, PA at a later date, Service information will be updated once determined. He will then be laid to rest at Mountain View Cemetery in Upper Exeter, PA.
