Catherine Marie (Fisher) Hughes

Catherine M. Hughes, (nee Fisher), 101, of Boca Raton passed away peacefully on May 13, 2015.  

She was predeceased by her beloved husband John F. Hughes, Jr. in 1983 and her loving daughter Frances E. Leso (Lare) in 1996 and her dearest brother Frank Fisher in 1964.  She is survived by her loving children John F. Hughes, III (Toni) of Philadelphia, Catherine E. Kerney (Peter) of Boston and Dolores T. Hughes of Florida.  She was the treasured grandmother of 9, and great grandmother of 13, special sister-in-law of Ann Hughes (Leo) and special aunt of many nieces and nephews.

Catherine was a graduate of John W. Hallahan Catholic Girls High School, Class of 1932.  She worked at Sears Roebuck for many years and was an administrative assistant at Friends Hospital for 20 years.  

Moving to Florida in 1985 didn’t stop Catherine from frequent visits to her family and friends up North. She was the oldest active member in the Palm Beach Diocesan Council of Catholic Women and shared her faith with everyone with whom she came in contact. She has been an active member of St. Jude Parish, a Carmelite Community for many years and brought her smile and joy to all, leaving behind many dedicated friendships.

Memorial gifts may be made in her honor to St. Jude Memorial Garden, 21689 Toledo Road, Boca Raton, Florida 33433.

Visitation will be held at Glick Family Funeral Home, 3600 N. Federal Highway, Boca Raton, Florida 33431 Sunday MAY 17th, 2015 from 2-5pm with a Mass of Christian Burial Monday May 18th at 10 am at St Jude Catholic Church, Boca Raton.  Burial will take place in Pennsylvania.  

Additional arrangements on the Philadelphia area: Relatives and friends are invited to visitation and Mass of Christian Burial at St. Ephrems Church 5340 Hulmeville Rd. Bensalem, PA, Wednesday, May 20th, 9:30AM, Mass at 10:30AM. Internment following at Our Lady of Grace Cemetery 1215 Super Highway, Langhorne, PA. Locally, in lieu of flowers, donations accepted by the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 5 Survivors Fund 11630 Caroline Rd. Philadelphia, PA 19154
