Benedict Gambino of Boca Raton, Florida was lifted up to heaven by angels this Tuesday afternoon, the 13th of September 2016. He will join his son Jack Gambino, his brother Joseph Gambino, his sister MaryAnn Frangipane, and parents Rosaria and Gioacchino Gambino in heaven. Surrounded by his family both in body and in spirit, he finally felt ready to end his fight with cancer, only after having prepared his family and friends to stand on their own. Ben's spirit of selflessness, generosity, and compassion will continue to shine through in the minds and actions of everyone he has touched and inspired.

No one will ever forget Ben's uncontrollable smile as it would spread from one end of his lips to the other before finally bursting into laughter so hard he would tear. His wife, Theresa Gambino, always knew a way to sneak a smile out of Ben, even when he least expected it.

Peepa and Meema, as their grandchildren have always called Ben and Terry, were the dynamic duo. Neither one without the other. Their jokes, laughs and playful pestering injected life and vibrancy into every gathering.  Their presence lit up any room they entered together. If you knew Peepa, you know that he'll never leave Meema's side, even now.

Ben dedicated his life to his family. Together with Terry, they passed on their Italian-American culture and traditions.  In recent years, they even reconnected with family in Sicily, for which he was truly grateful. Ben also shared his passion for big band music and the classic crooners, a favorite pastime. The music of Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, Duke Ellington, and others will always remind us of him.

Ben knew the meaning behind an honest day's work, rising up in the ranks from his first job as a truck driver delivery boy to eventually forming his very own trucking companies. He always knew when to speak and when to keep his mouth shut, and when Ben spoke, you knew to listen up. His advice was priceless to those who took it to heart.

In his retirement, after working well into his seventies, he enjoyed having good times with his friends.

Ben is survived by his wife: Theresa Gambino, three of his four children: Ginamarie Alvino, Debra Kuhns and her husband David, and Juliana Daleo and her husband Brian, his daughter-in-law Susan Gambino, his nine grandchildren: Jonathan Gambino, Maria Gambino, Giana Gambino, Christina Gambino, Christian Alvino, Anthony Daleo, Isabelle Kuhns, Michael Daleo, and Victoria Kuhns, and three of his five siblings: Joann D'Agostino, Mae Valinoti, and Vincent Siniscalchi. His first great grandchild, son of Maria Gambino and Evan Sheftel, will be welcomed into the world this month.

Ben will be deeply missed by his friends and family.  He was a loyal and spiritual man who gave wholeheartedly. He lived a full life and was loved by all.
