Welcome to the memorial page for

Audrey I. (Cooper) Sagel

April 25, 1931 ~ October 21, 2016 (age 85) 85 Years Old

Audrey I. Sagel, 85, a long time resident of Boynton Beach, FL  died on Friday, October 21, 2016 in the Rehabilitation Hospital at the Forum at Deer Creek, Deerfield Beach, FL.

She was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on April 25, 1931 to Sophie and Harry Cooper.  Audrey was predeceased by her brother, Jacob "Jack" Cooper.  For Audrey, family was always most important.  Her first marriage was to Norman Zelnick, Philadelphia.  Though the marriage did not last, she had two wonderful children with Norman.  Her children were her jewels and her most valuable lesson to them was the importance of offering unconditional love to those in her closest circle.  Her family always felt her caring and love.  She is survived by her son, Eric B. Zelnick, MD and his wife Deborah, and son Harry S. Zelnick and his wife, Gina.  She is survived by two grandsons, Samuel T. Zelnick and his wife, Jessica and Jacob D. Zelnick and his wife, Jennifer, and two granddaughters, Jennifer A. Zelnick and Sharon T. Zelnick.  She loved her ultimate role as GG (great-grandmom) to great-granddaughter, Juliet L. Zelnick.  She was the matriarch of the family and we will all miss her warmth and loving presence.

Audrey's second marriage was to Samuel S. Sagel.  She and "Stanley" were married for 36 years until he passed away in 1996.  They enjoyed traveling around the world and visited many historic and exotic places together.  They were especially fond of cruising.  They had many friends and were renowned for the parties they hosted.  They lived on a farm in West Virginia and were known throughout the community for the exotic animals they cared for at the farm. They would welcome children's groups to come see their llama, horses, goats, and sheep.

After Stanley's passing, Audrey enjoyed playing cards, especially canasta, with her girlfriends.  She spent the summers away from FL in Pennsylvania.  She traveled with her children and grandchildren to the Bahamas to celebrate her 70th birthday and on an Alaskan cruise for her 75th.  It was always being with family that made these events special for her.

There will be a memorial celebrating Audrey's life for the family at their convenience.  Donations in her memory can be made to The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, Donor Services, PO Box 4072, Pittsfield, MA  01202.
