Welcome to the memorial page for

Aloysius J. Petronis

January 28, 1936 ~ January 31, 2016 (age 80) 80 Years Old

Aloysius Petronis (Aloyzas Jonas Petronis), 80, of Boca Raton, FL, passed away peacefully on the morning of January 31, 2016. He is lovingly survived by his wife of 51 years, Ausrele; their three children: Algis, Vida and Tadas; three grandchildren; sister Danute Izbickis; and sister-in-law Danguole Kasper.

Aloysius was born January 28, 1936, in Kaunas, Lithuania. Early in life he fled World War II with his family and lived in Displaced Persons camps in Germany, until he immigrated to the United States in 1949. He eventually settled in Boston, Massachusetts, where he lived for six decades, before moving to South Florida in 2010.

Aloysius was a proud graduate of Boston English High School (Class of 1954), and Northeastern University, where he earned a degree in engineering. He worked his entire professional life as a mechanical engineer. Aloysius also served in the United States Army from 1956 to 1958.

Well-read and well-traveled, few could beat him at Jeopardy.  He was often found in exotic airports as the sometimes reluctant travel companion of his wife, with whom he saw much of this world. His family and friends will fondly remember Aloysius’ sense of humor, practical insight to human nature as well as his appreciation of classical music, Thai food and tennis.

Memorial contributions can be sent under Aloysius’ name in support of Camp Neringa Inc., 147 Neringa Road, Brattleboro, VT 05301.
